How to Obey the New Tennessee Driving Laws

Effective starting July 1st, 2015 the fine for uninsured drivers caught driving without insurance in Tennessee has increased from $100 to $300. After January 1, 2016, cops are legally allowed to have your car towed immediately if proof of valid insurance is not produced. Before January 1, 2017, the state of Tennessee will be implementing a new insurance verification program, available online, that tracks down uninsured drivers through their vehicle registrations. Vehicles identified as having uninsured owners will not be eligible for registration renewal.
